Zeroboard Inc., a company based in Minato-ku, Tokyo, and led by President Michitaka Tokeiji, specializes in supporting corporate sustainability management. The company has joined the PACT (Partnership for Carbon Transformations) initiative, which is organized by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD)(※1). PACT’s goal is to promote carbon transparency across the supply chain, and its “Implementation Program” is set to run from April to September 2023. Zeroboard will be working alongside Fujitsu Ltd. as a Lead Company and Nagase & CO., LTD. to facilitate the social implementation of real product carbon footprint (PCF) data exchange using the international technical specification “Pathfinder Network”(※2)by PACT.

Zeroboard’s GHG (Greenhouse gas) emissions calculation and visualization solution has been developed to support the management of supplier emissions, including the collection and management of primary data, which is critical to visualizing Scope 3 and reducing corporate emissions. As a result of its commitment to supplier emissions management, Zeroboard was selected as a global partner of PACT and has been participating in workshops and technical studies on rule development since January 2023. In July 2023, after the demonstration, Zeroboard was certified as a PACT-conformant solution provider and listed in PACT’s online catalog (https://catalog.carbon-transparency.com/) as the first group worldwide(※3).

The “Implementation Program” aims to promote the exchange of real PCF data in the supply chain by utilizing the “Pathfinder Network”. Fujitsu (lead company), NAGSE (supplier), and Zeroboard (solution provider) are working together to implement this project.

Overview of Implementation Program

OverviewThe PACT Implementation Program is an initiative that enables companies and their suppliers to share standardized data throughout the value chain. This helps them make informed decisions based on accurate carbon footprint data. The program uses the “Pathfinder Framework” methodology to calculate the real carbon footprint of products. It also leverages PACT conformant solutions based on technical specifications determined by the “Pathfinder Network” to exchange data. The primary focus of PACT is to align carbon accounting methodologies and technologies in a systematic approach that brings together stakeholders to address all Scope 3 issues.
