~Aiming to make zeroboard the new de facto standard in ASEAN countries, building an ecosystem~
Zeroboard, Inc. (Minato-ku, Tokyo, CEO: Michitaka Tokeiji, “the Company”), a developer and provider of “zeroboard”, a cloud service to calculate and visualize GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions, has been selected for the Startup ASEAN Cooperative Promotion Program sponsored by the AEM-METI Economic and Industrial Cooperation Committee *1 (AMEICC), based on funding from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI).
Resonating with the Japanese government’s vision on Asia – Zero Emission Community *2, the Company is committed to co-creating business with local businesses in order to lead the decarbonization in ASEAN.
■Program Overview
In this program, outstanding Japanese startups aiming to solve sustainability issues in ASEAN countries through collaboration with ASEAN-based businesses are first invited for preliminary training to acquire knowledge necessary to run a business in ASEAN region. Afterwards, there will be opportunities for individual consultations and matching interviews with ASEAN companies. Ultimately, a pitch event for ASEAN companies is planned to be held around February 2023, with the aim of realizing collaboration with ASEAN companies.
■Background of the Program
In the ASEAN region, achieving sustainable economic growth, there is an urgent need to address social issues related to sustainability, particularly in the areas of the environment and human rights. Solving these social issues is expected to provide a variety of business opportunities for Japanese startups, and there is also great interest in Japanese startups offering solutions that can contribute to the resolution of social issues.
■ASEAN Decarbonization Zeroboard drives forward
In August 2022, the Company announced our plan to enter into the Asian market together with Nagase & Co., Ltd., MUFG Bank, Ltd., Toyota Tsusho Corporation, Mitsubishi Corporation, and Sumitomo Corporation. As the first step, we have started supporting decarbonization management in Thailand using zeroboard. With this program, the Company will contribute to the decarbonization of the ASEAN region by establishing local subsidiaries and acquiring business partners, including non-Japanese companies, to provide a one-stop service from visualization to reduction of GHG emissions in the supply chain, in order to support decarbonization management in the ASEAN region.
