Supporting Decarbonization of Companies Through Technology and a Trading Firm Network

Zeroboard Inc. (Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and President: Michitaka Tokeiji) and NAGASE & CO., LTD. (Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and President: Kenji Asakura) have agreed on a business alliance for sales and expansion of zeroboard, a cloud service developed by Zeroboard Inc. for calculating and visualizing CO₂ (carbon dioxide) emissions to support the decarbonization of companies. Zeroboard Inc. will develop and improve zeroboard, and manage its database, while NAGASE will sell the service mainly to the chemical industry, collect information on customer needs, and develop and provide CO₂ emissions reduction solutions.

With countries around the world aiming to reduce overall CO₂ emissions to zero and achieve carbon neutrality, companies are expected to be aware of not only their own emissions, but of all CO₂ emissions along the supply chain for their business. However, companies are faced with issues such as the labor burden of collecting data on CO₂ emissions from multiple locations, the cost of implementing specialized solutions, and the difficulty of acquiring primary data on emissions throughout the supply chain*¹.

zeroboard is a SaaS cloud service developed with the goal of improving the efficiency of calculating your company’s CO₂ emissions, as well as visualizing CO₂ emissions along the supply chain. The main feature of the service is using APIs to enable sharing CO₂ emissions data among all the companies along the supply chain. With an easy-to-use interface and a low-cost entry model making it simple for SMEs to adopt the service, zeroboard helps with labor burden and cost issues.

In the future, in addition to working towards increased adoption of zeroboard through sales of the service, mainly in the chemical industry in which NAGASE has a large international and domestic network, efforts will be made to further improve the service and expand its database. Starting in the 2022 fiscal year, both companies will collaborate on expanding the business, such as by using the database for a business-to-business matching platform providing CO₂ emissions reduction solutions, and by proposing efficient environmental data calculation methods responding to changes in the external environment.

Through this business alliance, Zeroboard Inc. and NAGASE will contribute to the realization of a decarbonized society by supporting the decarbonization of business operations.
